I've decided to set some 2014 goals...
(Yes, I got new washi tape for Christmas - thanks Mumsie!) |
Let me just review last year's goals...
2013
Buy a House
Declutter
Become Mega Organised
I kept it down to three, and still only achieved one! It was the best one, though... a house was bought! That was ticked off on 17th May, and naturally involved some decluttering whilst preparing for the move. Not that you'd know it to look at the junk in the house. Therefore 'declutter' is being carried over to this year. The same goes for 'become mega organised' as things have become less organised since moving!
Without further ado... this year's goals:
Declutter - using William Morris as a guide: Have nothing in your house that you don't know to be useful or believe to be beautiful
Become Mega Organised
Decorate Kitchen, Craft Room, Spare Room
Make an Item of Clothing - something I actually wear in public
Cook Better Dinners - more variety, planned better, healthy (some of the time)
Don't Sweat the Small Stuff - worry less and be more chilled and laid-back
Escape the Rat Race - in a good way (not losing my job or dying!)
Ok, that last one is probably stretching it a bit. I'm not sure what miracle could occur this year to enable that one. (And it's probably not recommended to put a goal down that you have no idea how to achieve, in the hope that it will just happen on it's own while you pootle along in your day-to-day life!) But hey, I've got nearly a year for inspiration to strike!
I'll let you know how I get on...
P.S. I showed the Lumberjack the picture (above) of my diary on the craft room desk, saying "that looks nice doesn't it?" He said "yes, but they can't see the rest of the room!" (He has slight issues with the fact that you can't even really walk into the room - I tell him to just leave the door shut and keep out!) Well... for your viewing pleasure, here's the reality:
Ooops... it's on my list to tidy up today!
Hey Maria, I love this post - I'm having a sort out too and I'm happy with my efforts so far but there is still soooo much to do!! There are some areas that have needed attention for YEARS!! Good luck with your resolutions, your great sense of humour will see you through :0) Sam xx
ReplyDeleteMaria I think you have broken into my sewing room as mine looks exactly the same as yours - it is comforting in a way as I always feel that I am the only one who has not organised my things, at least I have a twin now! Your goals this year look very similar to mine Maria - I am also wanting to move house but this has been on my list for 16 years now and my beloved says 'Why move?' but then men don't always see things as we do I guess. Good luck with your resolutions, I am hoping to keep at least a few of mine going for longer this year than last. A great post Maria, thank you. Big hugs to you

It is comforting to know I'm not the only one with a very creative mess... ;-) Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteHa ha!! I spent a whole day last week just clearing my desk off!! I hope that you have great success with your goals this year!! xx
ReplyDeleteHaha, I really like posts that show the reality behind the calm, collected photo! Well done Lumberjack.
ReplyDeleteI literally live by that quote by William Morris. I love that you have healthy meals plus "sometimes" in brackets - LEWL. And I hear you on not sweating the small stuff. I've made big changes these past few months in regards to that. They were tough, but my blood pressure is thanking me.
xx A
p.s. WASHI TAPE FTW.
My craft room is an on going de-clutter / tidy up project! It is fairly tidy at the moment, but that wont last long! I too am aiming to be mega-organised this year. The 13 days we have had so far this year have been going well. Not sure if I can keep it up for another 352 days though!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, and happy new year!
I'm with you on the declutter/become more organised/ (sew) an item of clothing/cook better dinners.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your resolutions.
It's so nice to see other people craftnado rooms. Thanks for sharing yours. :)
I particularly love the first goal Maria and need to add it to my list too!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week,
Susan x
Good to have a goals list. You must be happy with last years?!. Really like the William Morris goal! Could be embroidered! The idea with the craftroom is that you should be able to leave your projects out! There is a door.. Although mine does not close.. wellwell.. xx
