What I've Been Up To...

Firstly, thanks for everyone who entered my giveaway, and hi to all new followers!  Thanks for all the lovely comments too.

Oh, and for those who are interested in the new job... sorry, I've been a bit quiet about it!  I'm halfway through my 6th week already - the time has really flown!  I miss my friends from my old job, but the people at the new place are friendly and the job is good, so I'm happy!  It already feels like I've been there for ages.  It's only a six month contract, but I would like it to carry on afterwards... we'll see... fingers crossed!

Onto craft!!  I've got many half finished things going on, but have had a sudden desire to do something with these...

(Sorry for the dingy lighting... I blame the weather!)

They are the contents of a Tilda Charm Pack!  I won them last year from The Krafty Cupcake, but they are one of those things that I'm too scared to use!  I really must get over this issue!  I take them out every now and then, arrange them into pretty arrangements, then put them away again!  I've got an idea of something I might use them for, so I can see and appreciate them properly... watch this space...

I am also trying to finish my African Flower cushion!!!  I really must finish it before starting a new project!  I've been crocheting half-flowers to square off the hexagons so I can make a 16 inch square suitable for a cushion...

I am slowly but surely getting closer to the finish, helped with some nagging persuasion from the Lumberjack!  He is very keen to see it finished - probably because he is fed up with coming round to my flat to encounter half-finished projects littering every surface!  (Also he does really like the colours and design!)

Hopefully I'll have something finished to show you before long!

  1. I'm the same with my fabric, every once in a while I get some of the prettier fabrics out, iron them all nice and arrange them in different ways. Then I fold them all up and put them away!

So nice that you are enjoying your job, that 6 weeks has gone fast.

Good luck finishing the cushion, looks great so far!

  2. I've just folded up and put away all my pretty fabrics too! Although I have managed to select and even cut to size a couple of boyish FQs to turn into pencil cases this weekend, but mostly the prettier ones get smoothed out, ogled then put way!

Your cushion is awesome... I can't even begin to think how one would make half flowers, whole ones are boggling enough to me!

  5. ....I reckon you should make your 'LumberJack' one of those as a bike seat cover for his motorbike. I am sure he would wear it with pride! ;)

  6. I had to smile when I read how you pull the fabrics out and put them back I have been guilty of the same in the past but i am trying to use all my favourites,I realised that the reason I put them back is that I give away almost everything and don't keep any for me so i have decided to make my favourites into something for me and if any is left then i will share it lol.

  8. Glad to hear you're doing well!

ooh those Tilda squares are gorgeous! I like to just play with and lay out fabrics too, that way when you finally decide on what to make with them you've really thought about it!

The cushion is gorgeous too, I love the dark blue...for some reason I keep seeing white as the edging, but prefer the dark :)

  10. Oooh those Tilda fabrics are so pretty! I know what you mean about not wanting to use them but I've got over my 'too precious' attitude recently! Have been chopping into all sorts of lovely fabrics lately just because otherwise they will just sit on the shelves forever! Your cushion looks fab - can I ask, how did you work out how to do half flowers for the edges?? Did you follow a pattern? I'm making a cushion of teeny solid colour hexies but don't know how to do half ones. Just thought I will have to make enough full ones, then cut them off once I've sewn the back on if you see what I mean?? xxx
