V-Stitch and Those Pesky Ends!

I've started work on a colourful new crochet project in a stitch I've never tried before... v-stitch.

Dinki Dots - V-Stitch Crochet

I love it - so easy but so effective!

But changing colour EVERY row causes the inevitable plethora of ends to sew in...

Dinki Dots - V-Stitch Crochet

Two ends for each row... argh.  I have decided to make a start on sewing them in and will not continue crocheting until they're all done.  Then I'll force myself to deal with them after each row.  It's got to be better that way - as hard as it is to resist the urge to add just another row, and another, and another... and leave the ends till later.  Future Maria will thank me for this discipline!

What's it going to be...?  Well, you'll have to wait and see!

  1. Wow Maria, it looks great. Good on you for wanting to deal with the ends as you create them. Have you thought of not cutting the wool between rows but carrying it over instead? You'll end up loops at the end instead of ends and you could even twist them round the othr colours to make them blend in a bit.

    1. Thanks Jo - I like your idea of carrying the yarn on - I hadn't thought of that! I'll have to try it out, so long as it doesn't look too different now that I've started weaving a few in. If it doesn't work for this, I'll definitely use it in the future - great idea!

  2. Fringe Maria! Actually depends on what you are making but a fringe is the answer to many bad ends! Lovely colours and I think I will have to add the v-stich to my list.. xx

    1. Oh, I like this idea too! I've got an idea of a border for this, though... but fringing - the perfect solution for ends! One of my favourite ideas was when I made the stripy teacosy for my brother, and just used all the ends as a big tassle on top - ah, easy and cool looking! xx

    1. Hi Amy,
The flowers are called Japanese Flowers - if you search on Pinterest for Japanese Flower crochet, you should find a number of patterns.
The v-stitch is made using the pattern here:

      I hope this helps!
