This is made from King Cole Cottonsoft DK, which is such a lovely soft yarn to work with, with a 5mm hook (instead of the 4mm recommended, as I have tight tension). You can buy the yarn at Love Crafts*.
The colours are:
White (710)
Sky (714)
Mint (715)
Saxe (718)
Jade (781)
I used 3 balls of each, so 15 balls 100g balls in total.

It's a pretty big blanket, as you can see from it draped over (and covering!) my armchair. It's quite difficult to get a good picture of, but I've tried some different shots to give an idea...
The stripes of colour are in three different thicknesses - 2 row stripes, 4 row stripes, and 6 row stripes. It is made entirely from treble(UK)/double(US) crochet. Each colour is used evenly throughout the blanket, in an apparently random way. It's not random, of course - it was very carefully planned out! I'm clearly too uptight for the random method! ;)
It's big and soft and great to snuggle under!
I can't believe I've finally finished it, after all this time! You can actually see it in my first podcast (my YouTube channel is here) but it wasn't quite finished then. I am planning to record another video in the next week or so, and will be sure to show it off then!
If you're interested, my colour order and stripe plan is below:

ReplyDeleteThank you! I think I just got lucky with the straight edges!

ReplyDeleteHi - I received the email notification for this message. I'm not sure whether you meant to remove it or not. In case you didn't, I used 15 100g balls of yarn - 3 of each of the 5 colours. I used the same amount of each colour - they all had an equal number of rows in total. I will update the post to mention how many of each ball I used!
DeleteVery beautiful and colorfull design. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOops - I have just replied to your earlier post with a question, that you have answered with this post. Sorry!
DeleteCheers, Cherie (New Zealand)
No problem Cherie! :)
DeleteI love your stripy crochet blanket in different color of blue. What stitch did you use and how many chain did you chain?
ReplyDeleteHi, thank you and sorry for the late reply. I've just counted the stitches and there are 231 in each row. I used a chainless foundation - but that would be the equivalent of a 234 starting chain (with the last 3 stitches used to count as the first double (US) treble (UK) stitch.
DeleteThe whole thing is made with double crochet (US) or treble crochet (UK).
Hello Maria, I just hit on your site, and lest I say "I love it!" Must, must, must have the pattern the the stripped blanket. i personally do not think it's too large. It's perfect! Like Alechia, (above, if you please, let us know who many chains to start. I saw you said it's all
ReplyDelete(US) dc but just want to know how many to chain. p.s. I am just starting Lucy's Attic 24 in the Sweet Pea colors, I tell you that, as it looks like all of you ladies in the UK are so beautifully talented. Thanking you in advance for the info, Carol Ortiz, azcarol10@comcast.net.
Hi Carol, and thanks for your kind words and sorry for my late reply.

It is worth noting that I am a tight crocheter - so if you have a looser tension, it might be worth doing fewer chains. You can do the chains and see what size it looks like when done and maybe take some out to get the width you'd like.
Thanks again for your lovely comments!
How many chain did you do? I wasn't sure sent I want to do one myself.
